Here is some basic information on how to prepare for your online notarization session:

  • You will need to know what type of notarization is needed. The most common notarial acts are an acknowledgment or jurat (oath). If you are not sure, check with the person who will receive the document once it has been signed.

  • Be sure to understand the document you will be signing. The notary will NOT be able to provide any explanations or advice for the document to be notarized.

  • Do NOT sign your document before the notarization session! You will electronically sign during your online session with the notary.

  • All signers are required to present a valid, unexpired identification (ID):

    1. U.S. Driver's License, U.S. Issued Photo ID, or a U.S. Passport (most commonly accepted).

    2. Social Security Number (Biometric Process available if no Social Security Number).

*Note- To ensure your photo ID passes the verification process: place the document on a dark, flat surface in excellent lighting and position your smartphone camera directly over the document with no angle to avoid glare and shadow.

  • Identity Proofing is performed by using: Biometrics or Knowledge-Based Authentication (KBA).

  • ALL signers (and witnesses, if required) must be present during the appointment.

*Note- A witness can be provided by the online platform for an additional fee.
